Data Scientist - Enviro-Tech Product Development

Location: Oxfordshire, UK

5 month Contract assignment: Outside IR35 £550-600 per day. 

Hybrid working

A leading enviro-tech consultancy has an immediate need for a Data Scientist to deliver a key part of an innovative environmental technology product. In this role, you will be part of a project that is at the forefront of applying data science to solve pressing environmental challenges.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop advanced data models and algorithms for complex environmental data analysis.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, integrating data science findings into the product development lifecycle.

  • Employ machine learning and statistical techniques to forecast environmental trends and impacts. Model scenarios and optimise product.

  • Manage large datasets, deriving insights to guide product design and strategic decisions. Datasets could include vast publicly available datasets and geospatial data.

Skills required:

  • Advanced Python Skills: Python for data analysis, model development, and automation. Experience with libraries such as Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, or PyTorch.

  • Cloud Platforms: Solid experience with AWS or Azure, including services like AWS S3, EC2, RDS, Azure Blob Storage, Azure Machine Learning, or similar.

  • Database Management: Proficient in SQL for querying and managing large datasets. Experience with NoSQL databases is a plus.

  • Data Visualization and Transformation Tools: Skilled in using tools like Tableau, PowerBI for visualization, and Alteryx for data transformation and workflow automation.

  • Big Data Handling: Experience working with extremely large datasets, including environmental data, using big data technologies like Hadoop, Spark, or similar.

  • Machine Learning and Statistical Analysis: In-depth knowledge of machine learning algorithms, statistical analysis methods, and their application in environmental contexts.
